Siemens Inveon MicroCT

Siemens Inveon MicroCT provides high-resolution images of skeletal and soft tissue. Primarily used in bone and fat imaging, but has also been shown to be effective for vascular and soft tissue imaging when a suitable contrast medium is employed. Research applications include characterizing soft-tissue structures, skeletal abnormalities, and tumors in live animals.

Inveon CT scanner (Siemens) with a 12-cm bore and 10 x 10 cm field of view is available for high-resolution images (spatial resolution, 15 micron) and is also installed in the facility for specimen CT scanning of small subjects and samples. The large FOV warrants the ability to scan both rats and mice in-vivo with the use of anesthetic gas. The scanner best serves to evaluate longitudinal changes in bone density, and can also image soft tissues with the use of CT contrast agents. Physiological monitoring ensures viability of the small animal during the scan, and respiratory & cardiac gating improves image quality of the heart and lungs. The scanner includes state-of-the-art workstations with the user-friendly Siemens Inveon Acquisition Workplace (IAW) and Inveon Research Workplace (IRW) software for image acquisition and processing, 2/3-D image viewing, and quantitative analysis.
